I attended the University of Iowa and rubbed shoulders with the best (Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.; David Morrell; John Irving; Nelson Algren) and, later, had the opportunity to interview authors like Joe Hill, Kurt Vonnegut, Frederik Pohl, William F. Nolan, David Morrell and Anne Perry. The list of influences on my writing is too long to mention.
I've been writing since age 10, attended the University of Iowa on a writing scholarship, and studied at Berkeley, WIU, NIU and the University of Chicago. (MS + 30)
I taught for many years (6 colleges and junior high school), founded 2 businesses and raised 2 children before returning to writing. I was film and book critic for the Quad City Times, Davenport, IA, for 15 years. My recent release "It Came from the '70s: From The Godfather to Apocalypse Now" reflects the review years, with 50 reviews of the day, 76 photos, and interactive trivia. My first book, 1989, Training the Teacher As A Champion, was written for Performance Learning System, Inc., (1989) but I've moved on to humor, horror, YA, short stories and one novel (www.outoftimethenovel.com) with a trilogy set to be released beginning in 2012 and a sequel to "Hellfire & Damnation" (Hellfire & Damnation: II) also due out soon.
The third volume of Ghostly Tales of Route 66: Arizona to California (Quixote Press), won an E-lit award in the travel category. Hellfire & Damnation (Sam's Dot Press, Feb., 2010) and It Came from the '70s: From The Godfather to Apocalypse Now (Merry Blacksmith Press, 2011). Laughing through Life (July, 2011, Quad City Press); The Christmas Cats in Silly Hats (November, 2011, Quad City Press) and the E-book version of "Ghostly Tales of Route 66
(a combination of the 3 paperbacks, with no pictures) were released recently.
