 Background & Major Influences:

I was born into a large family. There was always someone who you could spend time with whether it be in a board game, swimming, playing baseball, doing yard work and so much more. Often we would make up our own games, using our imaginations, especially when spending a chilly, Sunday afternoon outdoors. There was never lack for someone to come up with an idea that entertained us for many an hour.                                                                          My Dad was a major influence with his story telling. He could take a mundane work day and turn it into the most interesting event. Also, another major influence is my Mother as she listens to many of my works. Her views are honest and I can instinctively tell when a work I have read to her was not one of my finer works. What better influences than your own parents!                                                                                                                                                                                                   Another major influence in the literary world is Canadian author Margaret Atwood, her work is deep, thought provoking and exceptional in ideas. When I read "Handmaid's Tale" I was instantly hooked on this author's work. She has a uncanny ability to write in a way that makes one feel they are in the presence of the story/poem. I'd also have to say that other writers such as Susie Malloney, Anne-Marie MacDonald, Pierre Burton, Mary Higgins Clark, Lucy Maude Montgomery, Asa Seller,(thank you young man) Joyce Bowling, and so many other authors have influenced me into realizing that each of us have a story to tell.

Accomplishments: The Achievements in my life:

My credentials include certificates in Creative Writng, Landscape Architecture, Computer Certificate and Writing for Children. One of the most valuable achievements I obtained is raising a responsible young adult. Also, the formation of an animals rights group that fought to see a Humane Society opened in our district.

Other achievements include a year of Emergency Foster care for children, a volunteer position as a Teacher's Assistant and volunteer work at a community Food Bank. It was here many lessons on life were learned through those who came through the doors.

It is my firm belief that your greatest achievement is knowing that yes, you are a writer and one that deserves to be read.

One achievment was getting that elusive High School Diploma almost 10 yrs. ago. I was once asked by my daughter how I could go to University without my HS Diploma. I explained I went in as a mature student however her question haunted me to the point of buckling down and getting that coveted Diploma.

The certificates in Lanscape/ Nursery Work, Computer Studies and a Creative Writing Course have also been outlets to my other achievements.

The Christmas Cat
The Christmas Cat came to me when I realized there was no Christmas story to read to my daughter the first year she was away from home. Ok, so she was a young adult but this didn't stop me from writing a story to continue on with our tradition of reading on Christmas Eve. I never thought it would go into publication a few years later. What was once a couple of sheets of paper had become a warm Christmas story and is now a children's book in its second print. At siscanbooks.com you will find this delightful, charming story about a little pug dog who finds the true meaning of Christmas. This book is a delight for all ages. All work is listed for sale on the Siscan Publication website. It is a clear, easy to read, easy to get around site with great service. If you wish to purchase either of the books they can be done so either through the Authorsden or Siscan Publications. Thank you for your interest.

ChemoAngels
I've decided to include the site for the volunteer work I have been doing for the past five years. It is a wonderful organization that brings Angels and patients together during a most difficult time. I enjoy being an Angel as I know it benefits both the patient and the families. The little time spent seems to be nothing compared to what they go through each day. Please, take the time to check them out, you just may find it a worthwhile cause.

Pocket Posties
Pocket Posties are small business size cards with a Canadian flag displayed on the front and the back is left blank for citizens to write a small message to our troops overseas. Many of the troops have willingly put their lives on hold to serve our country. Our goal is to get as many of these little cards signed and sent to the men and women in order to boost their morale and to let them know Canadians truly do care. We are not affiliated with any organization or political party. This is a group of dedicated people who believe in our soldiers. It sure does make a difference in their lives. As one soldier said as he was leaving to go on his third tour, "I received this little Canadian Posties card on my last mission and it will come with me on this mission also." He loved the idea as he could bring a part of his country right there on the field. That speaks volumes!

Additional information

Recent Works: "Life's Ride - A Journal of Poems" one of my recent works. This book was written entirely based on creativity and fun. It has been a wonderful learning experience in the world of self-publishing. I now understand the amount of work that goes into writing, editing, layout and design, printing and selling of writing a book. Would I do it again? You bet!
