Differing Views

When poets  write of politics and war
Sometimes sanity goes out the door
Lost is all sense of reasoning
Some can't find a metaphor

When anger resides within
In frustration we fuss
Demeaning others can't win
It reflects back on us

We need to examine ourselves
Make sure it's right we choose
We can't put people on shelves
Because they differ with our views

Everyone can't like each other
That's an unrealistic ideal
But we can respect their rights
Be tolerant of how they feel

To constantly put people down
Is a sign of selfish immaturity
Faces can do more than  frown
Improve our own personality

We have it within our power
To change our environment
Silence can be like a flower
If we  learn to be content

We can voice our opinions clearly
Hopefully with reason and good taste
Keeping sight of  things we hold dearly
Without treating others like waste
