Not a lot to say about me really... nothing illuminating, clever, witty or wry: My personality seems to come through in my writing anyway - whether in poems or reviews - so I guess all that just speaks for itself. I'm just your average mid-life, mid-crisis, middle-class Brit who is at last doing something about the interest in English that she wished she had pursued at the age of 18!
I'm married to a corporate lawyer with two promising teenage children, neurotic golden retriever and extremely go-getting octogenarian mother who keeps me on my toes. Sustaining a life-threatening illness a number of years' ago has kept me off the payroll, only to find that life can be even fuller and richer if you actively engage in the care of the community around you...
Career in Book Publishing before the onset of sickness and family commitments. Having said that, I am shamefully ill-read - even of the classic "Greats" - but, as my college tutor says, I AM passionately in love with language. I was introduced to Authors Den by fellow writer, Kenny Joe Baez - he's just so unique: do check him out! - and have to say that it's truly like being amongst a community of friends, in the little corner that I seem to have nestled into. I adore writing, but enjoy the reading and reviewing equally as much and have been extremely grateful that my always long-winded comments have been so graciously and courteously received! Without the support and encouragement to write that I have been given here, I would have come nowhere near having been accepted on the course I'm now pursuing - so, my grateful thanks to all! Mwah! xx My thanks, too, to all who inspire and who keep me fuelled and fired with enthusiasm through their own great work and writing. Creativity springs eternal and to the nourishment of all.
Last but by no means least, I am going to go pretty much Transatlantic and say a BIG thankyou to God, without whom I would certainly be nothing and who underpins everything that I am and seek to be. He has been, and always will be, my Source, my Rock and my Roll!!
Accomplishments: From a standing-start of only just beginning to write about a year ago, feel immensely privileged to be now enrolled on one of Britain's most sought-after MA courses in Creative Writing... no, no bribes involved, honest!

Pearls by Kate Burnside For some strange reason, I have had the line "I warm her pearls" keep coming into my head over the past few days. It, of course, has taken me to the very well-known (at least here in the UK!) and acc...

End Of A Lifeline by Kate Burnside I nearly called this "Jonah Complex", after thoughts inspired by Belle's fabulously searching and searing "Mea Culpa" poem. But then I thought I'd keep the word-play working as it is! :)) Be well, Pe...
Perception by Kate Burnside Inspiration is such a funny thing: from Michelle Mead's most elegant, lyrical poem, The Artist's Studio, emerged this rather square, geeky study, wrought especially from the lines:
