I was born in Columbus, Ohio and was raised for my first eleven years in the hills of Southeastern Ohio. Thanks to my childhood, spent in the small community of Jackson and in the village of Oak Hill, I have a great appreciation for the simpler things in life and a great appreciation for the impoverished!
In 1991, my family and I left our home in Ohio and began traveling around the country. Those journeys led me to Raleigh, North Carolina; Odessa, Texas; Cross Lanes, West Virginia; Galveston, Texas and now onto my home in Texas City, Texas -- fifteen miles from the coast.
Although moving so often during my childhood was difficult, our travels allowed me to see many things and meet many different people from all walks of life; I feel that has helped me to become a better writer and poet.
Because I have seen so many different cultures and lived in many different regions, I always hope that I am able to tap into the emotions felt by those with whom I have connected, and the emotions that I have experienced, myself, in every poem I write.
I will always feel we must "live a little" before we can properly appreciate the art of poetry. While writers, many times, share works that were written as the result of a personal experience, the writers' experiences will often speak to the readers' own accounts as well; therefore, touching the readers' deepest emotions. In my opinion, being able to touch a reader's heart is the writer's most challenging task and yet, that task can become a most rewarding experience when the task is achieved.
My writing background goes back to my family. Both of my parents have written poetry and short stories in the past, some of which were published.
A few of my most influential inspirations next to my family are my second grade and sixth grade teachers, Mrs. Regina Chaney and Mrs. Sharon Needham, both of whom taught the basics I needed to pursue my writing, for which I will always be grateful.
Because I enjoy reading poetry just as much, if not more than writing my own, my greatest historical influences are the works of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Robert Frost, Edgar Allan Poe and other great writers and poets of the past.
I hope all of you enjoy the intricate pieces of my heart which I have so delicately placed within each poem that I have posted on the site. Some of my poems have been inspired by moments in my life, while others have been inspired by experiences my friends have known or topics that are of interest to me.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to share in your time and a little piece of your lives.
With Love, Jill Allison Eisnaugle
P.S. My e-mail address, if you all wish to give me a shout is: txbuckeye80@hotmail.com and please obtain my written permission before using any of my poems on other websites, whether for commerical or non-commercial purposes. I would appreciate it greatly!
