"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination enriches the world." Albert Einstein.
Ever since her High School days, Lena knew that her future laid not in academic studies, but in the creative arts. In the years to come, she studied and earned recognition in fields such as accountancy, interior design, real estate, and now creative writing. It is her creative writing which offers her that "elusive" personal satisfaction. This is the place where she can give free rein to her imagination! You would be amazed at the way her story ideas are generated. Sometimes she receives the opening scene in a dream, or something out of the ordinary, like a rabbit, triggers her inspiration.
Caged: Where Most Husbands Should Be... for a While was inspired by conversations she had with friends, combined with discussions overheard while traveling on the subway, bus, and while dining in restaurants. Most of the conversations centered around husbands who never listen, or pay much attention to the women in their lives. That's when the idea to write a novel struck: she could have fun with this and write a humorous story, where, as a rabbit, the husband becomes a captive audience and has no choice, but to listen to what his wife has to say. Lena proceeded with haste, allowing her imagination to provide the rest!
In a world where there is so much pain, Lena just wants to entertain, bring a smile to many, and help them lighten-up a bit. "We tend to take ourselves too seriously, we're performance and achievement driven, otherwise we feel worthless. That's a lot of pressure. We need to be able to laugh at ourselves when we make a mistake, and at the same time, look only for the good in others, die to self in other words," says Lena. "I laugh at myself when I make mistakes. I perish any thoughts of embarrassment. That's why I enjoy my dreams. In that world I find myself in peculiar situations, which make me laugh. It's like I'm on the outside, looking in. Dreams provide a wealth of writing material, if you could remember them, that is. I look forward to bedtime and those incredible and sometimes silly dreams! I thank God daily and give Him the glory for sending that creative writer who spurs me on to write as I do."
Lena wants her work to be used as a form of escapism, but with a view to encourage and enrich. Eva, the protagonist in Caged, exemplifies both with her strength and spirituality. There is also a serious side to Lena. This comes through in her articles and poems(prose)...they're from the heart. Though Lena does NOT claim to be a poet, this is where she focus more, because everyone needs a bit of encouragement at times.
If Lena's work is able to bring upliftment or a smile to one person out there, and stir his or her desire to connect/reconnect with God, the provider of lasting joy, then her time spent writing in the wee hours of the morning would not have been in vain.
Lena wishes peace and love to all her readers! She also welcomes and thanks all those who take time to visit her site and leave reviews/messages to cheer her on. And from the heart, she sincerely wishes her fellow creative writers much success in their craft!
If anyone has dared to read any of her novels, please leave her your comments, good or bad, she's okay with that.
