I have been running a small animal shelter for many years.
I currently have six (indoor) cats, two dogs, three budgies and one fish. I enjoy being with animals, to bad they don't pay well. Running an animal shelter has made it impossible for me to do much of anything else other than what I can accomplish in between the responsibilities of looking after a facility with so many living beings eating and sleeping and pooping and creating massive hairballs and in the case of our budgie family, feather balls. They all need a great deal of attention and in my case most of them are older animals and have very specific and individual needs.
So, in the inbetween times I write and I write and I write. I know I write some pretty strange stuff but it's fun, mostly.
I'm not entirely sure what was going on with the invention of Mimsi Preen, I blame Stephen King (in a light hearted, jokey sort of way). I started reading Stephen King novels way too early in life and I must say, he writes some weird stuff. I would never claim to compare any of my writing to his, not by any means but he has been, at times, an influence.
However, I don't think I am a horror writer. I think I'm really good at being a horror writer, I enjoyed writing "The Turning Point of Mimsi Preen" and many people seemed to have enjoyed reading it but I just can't stay in those dark places and maintain the sense of humor I need for everyday life.
I wonder what will happen next with my writing?
I have other strange and esoteric tastes to keep me going, now if I could just keep you interested. . .
