Co-authors Rondi Hillstrom Davis and Janell Sewall Oakes drew their inspiration from a love for the arts and nature. Rondi, the mother of two teenage girls and Janell, the mother of two preschool age boys, created the many seasonal projects and recipes in their book as a way to help their own children establish memorable family traditions.

With a MFA and BFA in theatre design, Rondi is an independent costume designer, author and book publisher. Renowned for her work in regional theatre and film, her creative talents include designs for many celebrities. Rondi's expertise brought many of the nation's top commercial photographers to her book.
