I was born in Sydney Australia on November 24th 1946, into a world that had just ended yet another War. My Mother was the daughter of a Coalminer, he died in a cave in. She was born in Sydney on 23rd Novmber 1928 . My father was a Naval Officer with the Royal Navy, based in Sydney Harbour. Seems they met at a Charleston Contest at the local Servicemens Club. She Won.
I have been married twice. The first ended in divorce. We just did not get on together because of religious differences. The second ended the same way, reasons? unknown
Not nescessarily in order, and some at the same time, ie; working two jobs.
I started work at the age of forteen as a Gas Jocky in a country Petrol Station, where I became a virtual slave, mostly not getting paid, only food and board.
I have worked as a Custodial officer with the NSW (Australia), Department of Corrective Services, I have been a Farmer, Private Inquiry Agent, Corporate Investigator investigating Financial fraud. Credit and Finance Manager, International Precious metals and Diamond Purchasing manager. Restauranteur, Catering manager, and one or two things that I cannot mention.
For many years I acted as a Justice of the Peace, sitting on the Bench dealing with minor crimminal matters, and dealing with Warrants of search and arrest.
I am also an Actor, and Blues Musician
When one looks at the above, one might think of me as a drifter, however I believe that I am only alloted a short time on this earth. With this in mind, I believe that I should experience as much of life as possible. I could not see myself rotting away in just one occupation for twenty or so years then, at the end of my life, looking back with regret at all the things I might have done, and dreams I did not fullfil. I remember when I was young, an elderly Gentleman, leaning on his walking stick, gazed at my motorcycle, shook his head, and said to me.
"I always dreamed of buying a bike, but kept putting it off, now it's too late."
He died a month later, his dream forgotten by all but me.
I have travelled the World by Motorcycle.
Started writing age 11, first published at age 12, when i sold my first poem for the princely sum of five shillings, (50c). I suppose if one was to look at the average wage then, (Five Pounds or ten dollars) it was a lot of money. The poem was published in a book put out by the U.N., proceeds going to The fund for Displaced Children, or some such thing.
Major influences are, my early childhood in post-war Britain, and as a witness to the Hungarian counter revolution in the 50s, Chilhood experiences in Northern Ireland, and my work as a Counsellor with the Poor and Underprivilaged of our society. Those that Society would discriminate against for Economic reasons.
The author who influenced me most was Kahlil Gibran, as well as Afro-American folk music ( Blues).
Other influences come from Woody Guthrie. He was an American Folk song writer and Agitator for social justice in the 30s. My work will often reflect my minds eye view of what I see around me.
I am motivated by my anger, at mans inhumanity to man,and by a life of Religious and political persecution.
My philosophy on life is that I love all Humanity. I may not love what they do, but that is not relevent. I recognise the weaknesses and strengths in the Human condition through years of interaction through my Therapy work. I accept that all Humans are different, but those differences make all humans equal in all things. No one is lesser or greater, we are just at different levels of understanding. From the poorest, to the richest among us, each person is deserving of acceptance and love.
Violence is the last refuge of the feeble minded
