Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ~Ralph W. Emerson

Background Information

Jodi is an Australian writer, based in Brisbane, who works across genres. Influenced by theme (and the voices in her head) her stories fly under the thematic banners of love, loss, betrayal, the dynamics of power and the eternal question what if?

She has been writing since she first discovered at age 10 the magic of writing her own stories. But like many writers, the path was long and twisted. After the birth of her son in 2004 she took on the editing role of a grassroots birthing and parenting magazine, leaving the magazine world to return to writing in 2008.

She is the co-creator of Chinese Whisperings and the soon to be launched eMergent Publishing. Jodi is the joint editor, along with business partner, Paul Anderson, of Chinese Whisperings first conceptual anthology of short ficiton The Red Book which was launched on January 1st 2010. A second anthology is currently under creation.

Jodi's writing encompasses both fiction and non fiction.

For the past year she has been the Monday columnist at the collaborative writing blog Write Anything, has published breastfeeding articles at Type A Mom and is the co-author of  Reclaiming Sex After Childbirth: A survival guide with writing partner Annie Evett.

Her short fiction has been published at Getting Hitched , The 12 Days of Christmas and she is one of a trio of writers which have bought The Astonishing Adventures of Captain Juan since early 2008.

Her own personal journey as a writer and a collection of photographs and short fiction can be found at her blog Writing in Black and White.

Additional Information

The Red Book has received outstanding reviews. Dan Powell had this to say: "What is perhaps most striking about The Red Book is the fact that, on finishing the final tale, it leaves the reader with a desire to return to the beginning and experience the various threads of plot and character again, certain that a second read will unlock deeper complexities of connection." Jen Brubacher had this to say: "The collection got better with each story read, and so too do the previous stories, the sum greater than its parts, and the parts made greater because of the sum. The characters wavered my attention between their own selfishness and the reminder that nobody actually stands completely alone. I'm very much looking forward to the next collection."
