I was born Tracy La Brie in Pincher Creek, Alberta. I moved a lot as a child, settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 12. After school, I worked for a time in office jobs, but never found this fulfilling.
I have always been an artist. Teaching myself to draw as a child, later learning oil painting, which I mostly work in.
I married Joel Van Gorp in May of 1993 and became Tracy Van Gorp. I remain in Winnipeg with my husband and three children.
Growing up I was always surrounded by people who loved to read, so reading was a natural part of life. The written word has always fascinated me. Books always held a magic to transport me to a different world and my creative mind soon wanted to weave my own stories.
I paired this with my love of history to bring me not only to a different world, but a different time. My love of the warrior has brought to life a variety of characters in worlds that are sometimes harsh. I also write about strong women who live in times when women were not always considered a man's equal. Adding just a touch of magic, colorful settings and the forces of nature and I have painted a world to draw the reader in.
