Born and raised in New York City, Antonio I Bertot saw firsthand the tragedies of city life. Being fortunate to be raised by loving parents he and his siblings, two older brothers and two younger sisters, escaped the tragedies that befall many that cannot escape the violence and misfortune of the streets.
Mr. Bertot has always enjoyed telling stories to his kids and their friends and until two years ago when a good friend persuaded him to publish some of his works, he had never contemplated becoming an author.
I have always wanted to write about assassins; try and see life from their perspective.
In Tony Bertot's first book, The Heart of the Assassin, you are introduced to a man hired by a crime family at war. In the very first chapter you begin to see him as a very cautious individual who takes time to save a young girl from drowning but does not stand around waiting for congratulations or thank yous. He does not divert from his mission and is very meticulous in his actions. His reputation is that of a cold blooded killer who has never failed in any of his assignments.
The second book, The Birth of an Assassin, the prequel to The Heart of an Assassin you are brought to the doorsteps on how it all began. You find yourself cheering for the assassin. As a young boy he is exposed to the crimes of a post war America where warring crime families bodies litter the streets of Chicago. Caught in the crossfires the young boy loses his father. His mother takes her son and flees Chicago and finds herself back home in Sicily prior to the invasion of American and British forces. A German Nazi takes the boy under his wing for alterior motives and teaches the boy how to shoot a weapon. The boy shows a remarkable and uncanny ability to shoot any weapon with hair splitting accuracy. Unbeknownst to the Nazi he was training his own excutioner.
It all comes together in the final book, The Legacy of the Assassin, where a crime boss and the assassin seek each other out.
