In September 2000 my beloved mother Ophelia M. Chavez died of ovarian cancer after a four year battle with the disease. During her last 10 days of life, my brothers and I kept vigil with her at home. As difficult as those final days were, we focused on creating a tranquil and comfortable space for her transition and final journey.
Armed with a background in interior design, I realized I had the opportunity to help others who are facing the stressful and unsettling reality of their loved one at the end of life. Thus began the journey of writing my first book.
