World mythology and folk tales, particularly Celtic, inspire my work. Sometimes I bring the mythic into the everyday world, but more often I let my imagination have free rein and create adventurous storiees rich in imagery and unusual characters.
I expecially enjoy writing about shape-shifters like the Selkie (seals who can take a human form), non-human characters, and suspenseful tales. I also enjoy creating situations that bring diverse species together in unusual ways.
A foggy day inspired the short story that got away from me and became my first (and so far only) novel. But it's going to be a series. A vivid dream inspired a short story. A conversation sparked a character.
Rue the Day: The Undercover Heir, Book 1 comes out May 1 with Wings ePress at http://www.wingsePress.com I also have a couple of short stories in anthologies and one coming out in Storyteller Magazine this summer.
I love corresponding with other authors and readers, so please feel free to write me.
