The concept for the MacMillen's book "Prison Basic's" was developed and outlined in 2004. The MacMillen's bring to you over 20 years experience with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, along with their sense of humor! The MacMillen's wrote their book together while Mr. MacMillen was in "The Bucket" better known as "The Hole" or "Administrative Segregation" (Ad/Seg) for five months at Kern Valley State Prison. The MacMillen's both agree, it was one of the most rewarding things that they have ever accomplished together! The MacMillen's decision to write this book was based on the need for family and friends to understand how it all works! To share what they have learned over the years and to provide accurate information, knowledge and education to their readers.

Accomplishments
|
|
Mrs. MacMillen served on the Inmate Family Council (IFC) at Ironwood State Prison for which she was the Chair for two (2) consecutive years.
During her tenature, the council achieved many great things for the families, friends and children that visited Ironwood State Prison each weekend.
The (IFC) Inmate Family Council worked with the (MAC) Men's Advisory Council to start a recycling program called "Cans for Kids". Prisoners and families all participated to help raise money for children's toys, play mats, and children's tables in the visiting rooms. They raised so much money, that it was also used to improve the family visiting units and to upgrade the visiting patios with more seating and shade.
