I have been asked for many years to put my poetry in a book but I was too frightened to open my heart to this so I rejected the idea. I guess getting older gives you courage because I've done just that. The book is entitled, "My Heart Wants to Tell You" is available at the below link. Thank you!

I was born and raised in Shamokin Pennsylvania, a lovely little eastern coal town. We were lovingly called "Coal Crackers". My maiden name was Bonnie Johnson and I am the daughter of the late Donald I. and Mary B. (Hagerty) Johnson.
I graduated in 1963 from Shamokin High School and Ja’mel Beauty College the same year. In 1963 to 1966, I owned and operated a beauty shop in that great little town.
I married Jim May in 1965, who was born and raised in Coal Township, Pennsylvania. Our first son was born in Towsend, Maryland in 1967. We then moved to Middletown, Pennsylvania in 1969 and lived there for ten years and raised three wonderful children, Jim Jr., Ginny and Tom.
We now have six fantastic grandchildren. We moved to Morrison, Colorado in 1978 to be closer to my brother, the late Gary Johnson.
I worked for Coors Brewing Company in their Marketing Department where I learned my computer skills. I wear many hats and at one point I was licensed to sell group health insurance for JR Group Benefits in 1988. Some of the other places I worked were Law Firms and Gold Companies. I even worked for a short time at a Ribbon Ranch making ribbons for schools and horse shows.
Poetry was my passion for years and I had some published. I wrote a children’s story in my senior year in high school. I apparently never forgot about that little story because after 44 years, “The Tale of a Rabbit’s Tail”, was published.
I’ve learned many valuable lessons on my journey through life. Never give up on your dreams and never stop believing in yourself were the most important lessons I’ve learned so far.
Even though I’m now in the twilight of my life the saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” has a totally different meaning to me.
My book “Grandpa, When Animals Die, Do They Go to Heaven,” by far is one of my favorite projects so far and I hope you enjoy it too. My oldest son Jim had a dream and hence, this story was born. On January 13, 2008, I received another proposal for this book. My decision will be made late next week on which company I will be going with.
My children, Jim Jr., Ginny, Tom and my nephew Ted Johnson influenced me and encouraged me. They never gave up believing in me. For that I thank them and love them very much.
You my friends, fellow writers and readers are truly my inspiration for my work. Keep reading and keep letting me hear your inspirational words, for they surely light up my life and inspire my soul. I try to write about true life experiences that touched my heart and revived my soul hoping it will touch yours also. God Bless You All!
