Roberta Beach Jacobson is an American humorist and author who ran away from home to explore Europe. That was 1974 and she never moved back. In visiting 17 European countries, she's shared bus seats with chickens and hotel beds with fleas. She's been spit on, cussed at, held at knife point, grabbed, pinched and kicked.
She makes her home on the remote Greek island of Karpathos. It's the sort of place animals outnumber people (although some of the animals weren't invited).
She has written, edited, translated or contributed to 56 books published on four continents.

Almost Perfect: Disabled Pets and the People Who Love Them
In a world that reveres perfection and disdains anything less, most of us realize that nothing and no one can truly measure up. Yet, when it comes to choosing companion animals, most folks won't settle for less. The stories in this book are about those animals who, through birth or injury, have been rendered less than perfect and the humans who found love enough to welcome them into their hearts and homes. Almost Perfect allows you to share the immeasurable rewards those people have found.
