Composer Mihai Popean received his B.M. from Western University and a M.M in music composition from Bowling Green State University. Teachers include Remus Georgescu, Marilyn Shrude and Elainie Lillios. His works and performances encompass a wide range of genres, from traditional and 20th Century to electroacoustic, electronica, jazz, pop, rock, and soundtrack and has been featured by many TV and radio stations. Since 2001 he has been an orchestra director and piano teacher at Eau Claire High School and taught strings in a private studio at Columbia College. He maintains an active status as a performer and is a collaborator for many orchestras and instrumental groups in Ohio. Currently, he is pursuing a doctoral degree in contemporary music with emphasis on composition at Bowling Green State University where he studies with Marilyn Shrude. Writing poetry is a life-long passion.
