When I was a kid, I wanted to be an actress - and people kept saying I should be a teacher. But teaching was far too boring - flat shoes, glasses and no make-up - ugh! But even teaching would have been a stage of sorts, I suppose.
I joined the media (one foot in the door, right?) and became a film editor/director - behind the camera, not in front of it. And all the time I was writing, so I moved in to marketing and media relations. I've worked in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Malaysia and Austin, Tx in marketing, media, events & public relations roles and then I became the Editorial Director for a national fashion and lifestyle magazine. I left that to start my own public relations firm and then expanded that to include strategic marketing. And what does all this have to do with teaching?
Well now I also run seminars, which are very popular. The extension of that was to write a book. In my seminars I teach people how to develop and implement marketing, brand management and public relations concepts. So that's what the book is about. But I have collaborated with Dr Alex Davidovic, who is an internet marketing expert - his PhD is in intelligent systems.
I have a passion for showing business owners how they can use professional marketing and public relations tools in their own business without having to hire a consultant (especially an overpaid one).
