Lisa Mannetti is the author of The Gentling Box (2nd edition by Shadow Fall Publications, October 2010) which not only received critical acclaim from masters of the horror-supernatural genre like Edward Lee, Alexandra Sokoloff, Nate Kenyon, and Robert Dunbar, but was named as one of four Editors Picks on Fearzone’s Best Novels of 2008 and was chosen as one of the Top Ten novels of 2008 on Creature Feature. The Gentling Box won the Bram Stoker Award for best first novel.
Her most recent book is a collection of two previously unpublished novellas in Deathwatch. Both works are set in the 19th century and focus thematically on broken childhoods. Deathwatch was just named as one of the Top Ten books of 2010 on Creature Feature. Currently available as an E book in the Kindle store, it will also be issued in print in February 2011.
"Dissolution," the opening novella in the collection, just received a Bram Stoker Award nomination in the long fiction category.
Her recent and upcoming short stories include "Resurgam," in Dead Set: A Zombie Anthology, (2010); "Condemned" in Legends of the Mountain State, (2010);
"1925: A Fall River Halloween," in Shroud Magazine, (Autumn 2010); "Spy Glass Hill," in Fear of the Dark Anthology (Feb 2011).
Her sardonic tale, “Everybody Wins,” was translated into a short indie film by director Paul Leyden starring Malin Ackerman (2009) and is making the rounds on the film festival circuit.
51 Fiendish Ways to Leave Your Lover, a macabre gag book illustrated by Glenn Chadbourne, was published in February 2010.
At present she is working on several stories and a supernatural novel-- The Everest Hauntings.
Lisa resides in New York along with her mischievous twin black kittens, Harry and Theodora Houdini, in the spooky 1918 house she grew up in.
