Donna M. Marbach’s writing career began in earnest at age twelve, when the Monterey Peninsula Herald published her poem “The Little Cowboy.” By the time she was in high school, Donna was editor of her school literary magazine, feature editor of her school newspaper, and Junior Poet Laureate of the Monterey Peninsula.

Donna also regularly reads her poems at “Wide Open Mike Night” and is an active participant in Poets for Peace International, Inc., where she recently performed along with eight other poets from Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo as a benefit to the organization Doctors Without Borders.

Donna is a painter and a free-lance writer who has published non-fiction, fiction, and poetry in a variety of anthologies and periodicals from Philadelphia Medicine (a professional journal) and The Friend (a religious magazine for children) to The Poetry Shell and New Author Journal (small literary magazines.) Most recently, her non-fiction has been published in City Magazine and The Catholic Courier; her poetry in The MacGuffin, Poetic Realm, and The Hazmat Review. She was also involved in the 2002 “Latter-Day Playwrights,” where her first play Synchronized Swimming was read publicly by GEVA Theatre members. Her first chapbook The Silver Thimble was published July,2002 and debuted at the First Annual Poetry and Music Fesitval of Rochester's Writers and Books.

Donna received her bachelor’s degree in Literature (primary English, secondary French) from the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she also minored in Art History.
Her master’s degree, from The University of Pennsylvania, is in Education.
Donna currently works as a marketing representative for The Scholar’s Choice, a local small business that does combined book exhibits for scholarly and academic presses at conferences across the U.S. and abroad. She lives in Penfield, New York with her husband Joe Brennan, her five children (Brian, Erin, Shannon, Kevin, and Colin), four rescued cats and a dog.
