In the past, I've written westerns for Leisure under Lori Morgan and Pirate adventure books for Berkley under Laura Renken. I like to think of myself as a wordsmith, a creator of dreams, and a passionate believer in happy endings. I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember, having fallen in love with reading when I read my very first Dr. Seus book.
I spent much of my life moving from school to school and have lived in or visited almost every state in this country. But it was when I lived in London as a teen that a visit to the infamous tower of London, where I learned that Henry the VIII actually chopped off the heads of two of his wives, introduced me to my love for historical intrigue. This was great fodder for my teenage imagination, and the start of a love affair with history, intrigue, and irresistible heroes.
I graduated with a degree in criminal justice from the University of Oklahoma and now live in the Chicago area with my husband, a former Marine Corps fighter pilot and irresistible hero for 26 years. Currently, I pen stories for AVON/HarperCollins under my name, Melody Thomas, and am very excited to launch my newest family series in April 2004. Not only are these brothers and a sister a wealthy Irish family with which to reckon, but they will turn British Society on its ear in their quest to fight injustice. What they'll find is love, and a renewed faith that the heart has the power to conquer all.
