Asa was born in Washington, DC, however, he was raised in Washington, DC and Maryland, with the larger part of his rearing being in Baltimore, Maryland.
As the baby offspring of a single, working mom his search for a male roll model...a father figure...in his life began early in the ghettos. With his mother busy doing her own thing and his older three siblings on their own in other cities, or living with another parent, he turned to the streets for guidance. The majority of the friendships he established were not positive ones and he soon began to follow the wrong crowd. Thus, from the age of 13 to the present, Asa has been in and out of countless correctional facilities.
It is only within the last 5 years, with the birth of his daughter that he has made a deliberate effort to try to turn his life around. He does this by writing. He 'speaks' through writing and he has penned numerous pieces of 'art' that paint the picture of his struggle...to start a new life.
A candid, opinionated young man...his works are filled with faith, hope, despair, anger, pain and love. And because the range of his themes are so extensive, there is no doubt that the reading of each piece will prove to be an unique and rewarding experience for all.
You need to know that Asa is presently incarcerated in a federal facility. This means that he has no access to a computer with an internet service. So, for the time being, he will send his work to me(his mother, who is a den member) and I will post some of them here on his den. I will be responding to any and all reviews, until he is released...hopefully, within a year's time.
Thank you for dropping by his den and for taking the time to read his bio.
Blessings.
