I am a traveller who discovered that teaching abroad would be a far more affordable way to see the world; in essence everyday was a new journey. Some good, some not. Russia had, for no good reason, become an adopted Motherland so I decided to throw myself at her.

Travel literature had always been a huge part of my life, as had travelling. I had shelved a number of completed travel writings and it wasn't until my time in Southern Russia I discovered a story had to be told because of the nature of the events that unfolded. That specific period in Russia's history was the backdrop of one's self against the odds that awaited. While many, many great authors have inspired and compelled me, the one of most significance is my own father Rick, who has published his own travel books and contributed more to my travels and writing than all other sources combined.

Additional Information

In January 2009 I completed, along with my father and brother, the circumnavigation of the Northern Hemisphere by rail. Since the Trans-Siberian railway in 1997, we have undertaken a major rail trip every three years and now our milestone fifth is recently complete. A manuscript has been in development since the first trip and a compendium of these five trips is nearing completion.
