Jan is a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her simple, calm safe life was hurled into a nightmare overnight. After the murder of her daughter, she became a strong advocate against domestic violence and decided she needed to tell her story hoping to save other victims.

The book "Not in Vain" was a God-driven force that came to me to tell the story about the aftermath of our daughter's murder from a domestic violent relationship. I never thought I would ever be an author. Many nights I would wake up and not be able to go back to sleep. The name Not in Vain kept coming to my mind. I finally would go to the computer saying "Dear God, I am not an author, why are you doing this?" As I started typing, thoughts just came to me, at times I could not type fast enough to keep up with these thoughts and memories. Then I would cry so hard that I could not even see the keyboard. I would still be typing when the sun came up without realizing it. With many twists and turns that happened in my life, it ended up taking me four years to complete this book. I was also given the idea for the cover, now I just had to get it published. Thank you God for persistence! Now we just need to reach other victims to show them what could happen to the loved ones they leave behind by staying in an abusive relationship. I found out the hard way what criminal justice means, it is for the criminals, now I am going to work on getting justice for victims. With the help of God, I will figure out a way.

Jan has traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and to Washington DC speaking out against domestic violence. Being dedicated to helping other victims, she has spoken to high school classes, and has appeared on radio shows and a national TV talk show.
Now that her book has been published, she will be doing more speaking engagements, radio talk shows and book signings to spread her story and to build awareness to help other victims. Contact author if interested in a speaking engagement.

A true story about the aftermath of a domestic violent murder, what happened to the loved ones left behind, family and children. The pain of such a death is unbearable, and the justice system is not fair. After reading the story of what happened to our family, I am sure that you will decide to leave if you are in a violent relationship.
