I grew up in Arlington Heights, IL. just outside Chicago, attended Illinois State University and recieved a BS degree in Business Marketing and a degree in Art. But the best education and major influence in my life was traveling around the world for 3 years solid. Now I live in San Francisco, CA where life always seems like it is in motion ...

I have won art awards for my illustrations as a child, in high school, and collage. My first book "World Stompers" continues to rank in Amazon.com's top 100 travel guides.

I published my sixth book "Sacred Places North America: 108 Destinations" early in 2003, and have a second edition of "Sacred Places Around the World" coming out in early 2004. I still travel whenever I can, and just returned from the Grand Canyon, AZ and the Burning Man festival. I am going to Cambodia in January, 2003 for the ATF travel conference.
