The prospects of a person like me becoming a writer were not favourable. I had such a terrible time reading as a child that I had been placed in the 'Special Education' class, mainly for reading and reading comprehension. In hindsight, it wasn't so much that I had a problem, rather I just had better things to do, like dream. With the exception of writing a story, I still have a tough time concentrating, as my mind tends to wander off to some imagined place or other. However, once upon a time, a friend had noticed that I tended to scribble the odd note now and again. When he liked what he read, he suggested that I write a book. The thought had never occurred to me. I began at once, and haven't stopped since.
As many are, I am influenced by my immediate world, dreams, fantasies, notions, and of course the array of stories I've read. To name a few of my favourite authors: Bill Watterson, Patrick Rothfuss, Tolkein, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Gregory Maguire, Philip Pullman, JK Rowling and many more.
I love telling stories; it's as simple as that. I love hearing them, reading them, and dreaming about them. The best stories are the ones that live outside the words on the page. When you find yourself walking down the street and thinking: 'I wonder how Harry is getting on without Dumbledore?' Then you know you've been touched by some real magic.
