I am a country boy from Goldsboro, NC and I have been in the US ARMY for almost 24yrs now and I believe my inspiration for writing comes from every day life and the pains, likes and dislikes of the world around me. I can remember at a young age living in Wilson, NC up until the age of about 7 and then moving to the Ghettos of N.W. & S.E. of Washington DC and watching my mom provide for 4 small children while trying to enjoy her own life by singing in a band. Life in the ghetto was hard and sometimes it seemed like there was no hope for an escape from it, but my mom held everything together to include the care of 4 children through major hard times. I can remember winters with no heat, Christmas with no presents and even sometimes no food in the refrigerator, but we survived.
I can remember growing up and watching other kids enjoy the finer things in life and said to myself, "one day I am going to have nice thing". Around the age of 10yrs old, I met Ajamu, who subsequently became my big brother and through him I attended Girard College in Philadephia, Pa in the 1982 and then I arrived at my 1st steps out of the ghetto, because Girard College taught me to be mentally tough, study hard and sometimes rise before other to have what others don't have because they maybe to lazy or didn't have the mental Fortitude. After I graduate from high in Goldsboro, NC on 7 June 1985, I enlisted in the US ARMY and have serve honorably since that date. My military journey has taken me through multiple scenarios in life to include marriage, children, War in Iraq, discrimination (racism), bankruptcy, jail time, mental depression, loneliness, adultery, lying, cheating, achievements and failures and even hospitalization. through all of my ups and downs in life, I have always believed that GOD placed me here on Earth for a reason and as long I remain true to him, then all else will fall into its prospective place in life.
When people read my writing, I want them to come and journey through my words as though they were actually journeying through life with me, see things as I saw or seen it and almost taste the Glory of Success and Failure.
God Bless You All!!
