I've been in higher education (mostly as an Assistant and Associate Professor) since 1988. That background, combined with some important literary influences, have shaped my decision to write murder mysteries that take place in the world of higher education.
The most important literary influences in my life have been classic authors, especially Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers. I've also been influenced by more modern authors such as Colin Dexter, Lilian Jackson Braun, Rita Mae Brown and Tony Hillerman. I've also been influenced by other mystery authors whose stories are as much about the psychology and personality of the characters as they are about the events in the novels.
