As a 48y/o from New Orleans, La., Hal T. Haywood Jr. a member of The Big Easy Network of Independent Publishers ( B.E.N.)” has a clear cut vision. Through the use of his company, Cookey’s Jar Publishing Co., with its motto “What’s in Cookey’s Cookie Jar” is designed to inspire, motivate, and ignite the creativity which lies inside of us all.
Hal, whose nickname is Cookey, was giving to him by his grandfather Samuel G. Cranford, whom inspired him through his stories he told to him as a little boy. Hal is a fifth degree black belt in karate with over 36 yrs of experience. He has studied film, video, television production and enjoys writing movie scripts, stage plays, poetry, coloring books and several children’s books.
“I write because I have known for a while that I have locked inside of me all kinds of ideas for stories; with my mind being the ink, the pen and pencil being the keys, the paper being the locks and doors being the minds of all those with similar ideas interested in reading and spreading the love for it.”
Cookey’s Jar books are designed to appeal to the ever growing interest of children of all ages, along with their parents and teachers. To spark the curiosity and love for reading and to let children know what’s on the other side of the book cover. For the parents who read to their children, for the children that know the value of reading, for the children that want to learn and don’t know where to turn or go for help, for the child afraid to ask or was teased and is now afraid to read “out loud”. To all the you and me’s whom taught themselves to read, and to the countless teachers and librarians waiting on the day they see their libraries packed with young readers eager to “OPEN and SEE” what’s on the other side of the book cover. As you know, “you will never know what’s on the other side of the book cover unless you OPEN AND SEE!” New and refreshing assortments of ideas for stories are written by this new and upcoming author Hal T. Haywood Jr..
