Mary Saleeby is an Art History Professor in New York City and gives lectures in various Museums and Historic Mansions throughout New York. She holds a BFA, MFA and Ph.D. in Art History with a Certification in Egyptology. Beginning her education in Interior Design she developed a passion for Decorative Arts and Antiques, which led her path to the pursuit of a Doctorate in "The History Of Art". For twenty-five years, her life has been dedicated to the Arts where she has given lectures, worked on historic restoration committees, published articles and taught in New York City Colleges.
While studying for her Doctorate she realized that many of the books were extremely complex and written for people that had a robust knowledge for the Arts. She also realized that the majority of people that are reading these books are people from all aspects of life, with diverse backgrounds and professions that do not necessarily pertain to the arts. Therefore this book was structed and composed in a relaxed manner that will take you on a journey through some of the Worlds Greatest Masterpiece Paintings and will teach you how to decode what lies beneath the paintings veil.
The Old Masters worked with Classical, Christian and Mythological subjects with delightfully wonderful stories as their inspiration. By understanding the pictorial language you will learn to appreciate art not only for the aesthetics but for the history and meaning surrounding it.
