I had a lot of trouble learning and communicating when I was younger and all I could do was draw and do sums back to front!
The work that influenced me when I was a teenager was 'Grandma' by the cartoonist Giles, short and simple song tracks like 'Lady Madonna' by the Beatles and beautiful and simple art like 'Girl Holding a Dove' by Picasso.
As a maths undergraduate and researcher I got to love elegance. As a communicator of maths ideas to children I strove for new ways that took account of their world view and that gave us all a laugh.
Drawings, aiming to make things simple and working along side children lead me to create Comic Maths!
