A published author of articles, poetry and photography, Ms Logan's first book, a memoir is in the completion phase.

Background Information

As the daughter of an Army Intelligence officer who worked along side the C.I.A. and a Nazi era raised German mother my life's purpose has been to uncover secrets and find  pieces of  puzzles to see the whole to bring forth healing, relief and laughter.

The journey of writing my first memoir, Can I Get a Ride to the Laundromat?, accomplished that goal on a personal level as well as solving the world wide question, why is there war?

It is a non-narcissistic memoir that shines healing light while experiencing a roller coaster ride of emotions from sadness,  surprise, tears, to laugh out loud laughter (a tip of my hat to Frank McCourt).

The motivation was a spiritual one by way of my deceased brother, Gordon W. Logan, Jr. killed in Vietnam in 1969.  Time to tell the secrets, the message I got, little knowing the journey would uncover more secrets thus bringing historical healing to a family who had way too many shovels at hand and used them.  So I dug up what my family buried.

Of friends, family and acquaintances who read my manuscript I've been particularly moved by men's heartfelt responses, feedback, describing paradigms shifts and their self-disclosing honesty. Some men were delighted by simply going down nostalgia lane in terms of the cars I wrote about.

One elderly, well read friend, found it so powerful she shared she had to take breaks and read something else.  So she pulled out and reread Othello.

Vietnam veterans friends' reactions have ranged from "you have a gift for good storytelling"  to being triggered by unveiled truths to be able to continue reading (at least for awhile).

In addition, I am the witness, the insider and ultimately the whistle blower on the secrets of our government, another book I am working on.  In the meantime, my path led to becoming an entrepreneur, an expert witness on the failings of the government.  I've helped families whose children were hurt, maimed and/or who died in state government care.  In my public presentations and testifying I find  the public, parents, citizens and juries are thirsty for truth-telling on what goes on behind those concrete barriers, bricked walls, and locked hallways of our government bureaucracies.

I am also working on a filmscript, studying my craft.  One summer day this year I was on film location for Harrision Ford's new film, shot in Portland, Oregon, I made props for some of the scenes and manned a vendor's booth for one of the scenes.  Extraordinary Measures comes out in January 2010.

Accomplishments

Before my dismissal for going public and whistle blowing on government managerial bureaucrats, I received a statewide employee of the year award, nominated for a second and served on the statewide Customer Service Committee. I won a poetry contest and received 2nd and 3rd place awards for my photography. One of my articles was chosen as "best of" for an anthology related to working with kids in group care. Well, I recently won the haiku contest on LiveWire Portland Oregon's quirky radio show so I made my radio debut and read my haiku on the air.
