The Author, when asked "why did you write this book" gave the following reply:
Why did I write this book? I actually had many reasons. It would probably be best just to outline a couple of them. First of all this topic continues to grab headlines in our society. The so called "evolution vs. creation" wars have descended into bitter and accusing forums where opponents do not engage one another in a constructive manner but simply hurl insults back and forth. There are so many things that divide us in society. In fact I believe that our society is becoming increasingly polarized along political, religious, and economic lines. We should not be content to allow science to become a discipline that divides people. It should bring people together in a search for truth.
The concept of Intelligent Design is growing in prominence, but with this growth has come many misunderstandings and myths about what Intelligent Design is. Many opponents of Intelligent Design end up with a bit of jam on their faces when arguing against a young earth and Biblical literalism, only to find out that Intelligent Design does not base its arguements upon revealed or divine texts. One of the goals of this book is to outline what Intelligent Design is, and equally important, what it is not.
