Darcel Patrice Williams was born in Houston, Texas, the second eldest of five siblings. She attended school in the Houston Independent School District, completing high school with honors, and going on to attend the prestigious Texas Southern University and the world-class University of Houston.
She has studied creative writing with published author Bapsi Sidwa, scriptwriting with Dr. William Hawes and while Soaring on Clipped Wings was in development, she took a writer's workshop course in novel writing with Alysse Rassmussen, a romance-author.
Darcel worked full-time in the production department of KUHT, the public television station in Houston, while she studied film-and-television production at the School of Communications, University of Houston. Later, she assisted entrepreneurs with development of their independent production concerns in Houston.
She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1990, where she became a massage therapist, worked as a community center director and organized support groups for community concerns while she planted the seeds of a youth production program.
Darcel continues to reside in Tulsa, where she has completed the most revered role of her life, that of rearing her son to become the fine man and college student that he is today. Her desire is to positively impact society with writing that brings messages of hope and encouragement.
