Betsy Murphy has worked in hospice care for 25 years. She worked for a large metropolitan area hospice serving in both administrative and direct patient care roles. Betsy is a registered nurse with over 35 years of nursing experience. She was trained as a nurse practitioner and is certified as a hospice and palliative care nurse. She is widely published in nursing journals and a frequent speaker on end of life care. Betsy is committed to hospice access, hospice nurse education and quality. In 2006, she wrote the first chapter on end of life care in FA Davis and Company’s textbook Understanding Medical Surgical Nursing. Also in 2006, she wrote and published a handbook for consumers entitled Guide to Caregiving in the Final Months of Life.
