So what inspired me to write this book?  4 years ago I came to a realization within myself that my ascension process was not progressing and I wondered why.  Then the realization hit me like a ton of bricks.  We're supposed to eventually become fully conscious with no reference to past or future.  That means living in the NOW in your mind.  So I began listening to the sounds around me with all my attention and blocking out all thoughts.  This kept me focused on each passing moment.  After a couple days of vigilant practice, it worked.  Before I was constantly lost in thought, and mostly negative, angry thoughts about past times where I felt like a victim.  After this focusing on the NOW, I only had little random thoughts, and I wouldn't get stuck on them.  I percieved the world through totally different eyes.  Physcially my whole body felt different, lighter, almost like I could float away.  I realized I was totally identified with my thoughts and made an identity out of them.  Now I was pure consciouness.  I felt no fear.  No anger.  No anxiety about the future.  This totally transformed me. 

So I stayed in this state for about a week and then my mind started working again, and I've been going back and forth for the last few years like this.  Sometimes I still get caught up in fear, but then bring myself back to the NOW.  That's the nature of the ascension process.  It won't happen overnight, but over time you discover what keeps stopping you from living exclusively in the NOW, which is where the ascension path eventually leads. 

A couple months after this discovery, an idea popped into my mind to write a children's book.  I would use butterflies and caterpillars as metaphors for the transformation I went through.  So I wrote about a caterpillar world where the caterpillars forgot how to transform into butterflies, and worship the only caterpillar most believe made the transformation, Emmanuelly.  The main character, Robbie, is based on me and the other characters are based on people I know.  Zaki Caterpillar is based on my spiritual teacher, Zakairan.  I read his articles in 2003 and everything he says resonated with me and how I felt about the world.  Visit his site at www.zakairan.com.
