Before I set out to write this book, I was living in Dubai, and was there when my sister Angela Mary Katsapas took her life. Life was too difficult for my sister, and she had lived for a long time in emotional turmoil. Soon after I received the news, I moved to London to spend some time with my remaining sisters Bianca and Vanessa.
While walking the streets of London, I saw so many people faced with so many concerns, just pushing through their lives.
In November of 2009, while staying in Angela’s old apartment, I found a book on her shelf about motivating your mind. The book was 500 pages long, and was written by a well known psychologist. While reading it, I found my sister’s photo, which she had used as a book mark, showing that she had stopped reading at page 50. The book was 500 pages of self-tests and statistics. In my opinion, if you could finish this book, then you never had a problem with motivation in the first place.
This was when I got the idea to write my own book, to convey my understanding of the ultimate truths about life and emotions, to make life more easy for all who read it. I wanted the book to be “short and sweet,” and at the same time exciting and meaningful. I wanted to focus on specific events in my life and use my own story as an instrument to communicate this understanding to others. I am convinced that you will find my story enjoyable to read and easy to relate to, and that it will provoke in you healing thoughts about many aspects of your life and the best way to live it. Hence the title, Life! Short & Sweet, A Journey to Understanding.
My story starts out in South Africa, and takes the reader on an emotional journey, ending up with what I discovered about the truths of life that changed not only my life, but also my world, and brought me emotional peace.
Those who have read the book have found it to be inspirational and life enhancing. If someone is living in turmoil, hopefully my story will inspire them to begin their own journey of self-conquest. Though my writing style may seem primitive and strange at first, I assure you that by the time you have finished the book, you will have learned some precious truths that can bring you true and lasting happiness.
