My name is Jenna Young, and I am the author of Just Listen- A Memoir.

Background Information

My name is Jenna, and I am 28 years old. I am happily married to a wonderful man and live in Houston, TX. I have been writing most of my life, mostly poetry and short stories and have just published my memoir, Just Listen. I am a survivor of sexual abuse and attempted rape. I suffered from eating disorders from the age of 15 to 23, and had spent time in treatment for them.

I still have a negative body image but have learned to love and respect my body. I also self injured for many years, and still have to live with the scars from that. I broke my silence about the years of sexual abuse when I was 21, and my goal in publishing my memoir is to help others who have been in similar situations to find their voices as and to let them know  that they know that they are not alone.

I hope to be able to inspire others to break free from the silence they may be in, and to let them know that their pasts do not have to take over their futures. You are not defined by things that have happened to you, your future is yours to do with as you wish. Do not allow others to have so much power over you that your life is given over to them because of things they may have done.  No matter how you may be feeling now, you are not alone, and things will get better!
