This book began as a collection of personal journal entries over the last three years of my former marriage.  My husband of 17 years suddenly became abusive after approx. 13 years of marriage and a local abuse center recommended that I journal.  In 2009, the abuse began to trickle down to my five children.  I quickly got us out of the situation and then had to re-certify as a teacher to support us financially.  To re-cert.  I had to do a 40 hour research paper.  My topic was "Domestic Violence and Its Effects on Kids in the Classroom".  Not only did I earn my certification, but I began to merge my journal and my paper into a well-researched accounting of my personal experience as a victim of Domestic Violence and Abuse.   My goal with this book is to reach as many women and children as possible with not just a message of hope, but also a list of research and web links that can provide proper resources to women trying to get help.

I have a BS in Elementary Education and worked for 4 years as a church youth director. During my time as youth director, I worked closely with a local Mayor to develop programs for at-risk youth. I now work as a substitute teacher in a local school district and write in between sub. jobs. I just completed my Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology and will begin a PhD program for the same in June 2013.

I am very eager to help women get connected with resources to help them get out, get safe, and stay that way! If you need a tunnel out, contact me. I will point you in the right direction but the brave step of leaving must be your own! You can do it, I did, and I will help!
