Love is God’s creation, the whole and every grain of sand in it. Love every leaf, every ray of God’s light. Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love. Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Background Information

My goal in life is to love more and fear less, to have gratitude, to live in the present, to remain curious and treat life as a wondrous adventure.

Although I was born in New Orleans I spent my childhood in South Africa. I returned to America in my early 20s to meet my biological father. I worked as a Pan Am Flight Attendant in New York City and London for two years. The many amazing countries I visited include South and Central America, Africa, India, Turkey, Greece, Lebanon, Europe, England and many islands in the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

I now live in a log cabin with Bud Queen, my husband and hearts companion, next to a creek in the woods near Forsyth, GA.

We enjoy canoe camping, hiking, backpacking and sailing. Our outdoor adventures are mostly in the Southeast but also include Alaska, California, Minnesota, Colorado, Wyoming, Florida and sailing in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. We lead numerous trips for Macon’s Georgia Wilderness Society at

www.georgiawildernesssociety.org .

I’m the author of “Earth, the Forgotten Temple: A Spirit Quest in the Wilderness” about hitchhiking on sailboats in the Bahamas, canoe camping in the Everglades and Suwannee River and solo backpacking in the North Georgia mountains.

Accomplishments

I’m a retired Licensed Professional Counselor who worked with children for 20 years at a Mental Health Center in Macon, Georgia. I have a BA and MS degree in Psychology and I’ve been an ordained minister with the Alliance of Divine Love, an international interfaith ministry, since 1987.

My articles and columns have appeared in The Atlanta Journal & Constitution, The Macon Telegraph and Bibb Neighbor, Monroe County’s Reporter and Columns Magazine, Atlanta’s Oracle 20-20 and Aquarius, Woman Artists News and Purpose Magazine.

I received the Gene Espy Award for outstanding achievement and environmental concern in 1998 and the Earl Pearce Award for Outstanding Community Service in 2002 from the Georgia Wilderness Society.

I received the Catherine J. Duncan Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement from Fort Valley State University, Georgia in 1989.
I am the recipient of nine awards in photography and received a Certificate of Honor from Germaine School of Photography, New York in 1974 and an Art Award from Krugersdorp High School, South Africa in 1968.

Additional Information

I have chartered sailboats with friends and hired a skipper since the mid 70s for up to 10 days. We have mostly sailed in the Bahamas but we have also been to the British and American Virgin Islands, Belize, the Florida Keys and the Georgia Coast. In 1991 I took a year off work to do extended sailing. Since I did not have a boat I put an ad in Cruising World for offshore experience and got over 70 offers. Although the first six weeks were tough with the first skipper I ended up hitchhiking on two other boats and had extraordinary experiences.
