Being drafted out of Southern Illinois University in 1970, was an abrubt change in the road I would travel, next stop Vietnam. Quitting school to get married and go back to working for that hourly wage was what I was in store for, but for just a short time. Back then give up your school deferrment and you would find yourself in Southeast Asia. Having my first experience with a Dear John was just one of the many wonderous experiences that burned into my mind the smells, sounds, and visions are still very vivid. Remarrying and having children gave me very little time to continue my education, even though I started to think writing would be interesting. Imagination kept me heading towards writing, but there was always an excuse why I didn't, main reason? I wasn't educated enough. Baah!.....you only live once so I wrote a novel, when I started I had no idea what I was doing but I didn't give up. Took me almost two years but I finished it, oh, I have no elusions of grandeur, I wrote it because it was fun. Major influences? Just me, My novel, Days in Bien-hoa, by H.E.Jasper.
