It sounds cliche, but I have always wanted to write. I never have the time nor a lot of motivation ... until now. As a retired nurse, I am now trying to overcome twenty years' worth of forced "telling, not showing" skills. I am finding it more difficult than I thought to relearn how to "show, not tell", yet I peservere!
My motivation? Life. My professional experience. Good writing. My personal triumphs and tragedies. Bad writing. My two miracle sons. And an ineffable literary sprite inside me who wrenches some kind of sick satisfaction in forcing me put pen to paper.

Susan spent twenty years as a nurse in a variety of specialties, including teaching and nurse anesthesia. She is retired from nursing and enjoys spending her time with her two sons, writing personal essays and a paranormal romance, running her online t-shirt business (www.WalkOnMom.Com), and resenting that one can have gray hair and acne at the same time. She would like to write a memoir about her bejeweled road to becoming a mother, including bouts with infertility and pregnancy loss.
Susan's essay, "Dancing with Death", was published in the online medical magazine, www.YouAndMeMag.Com. She won third prize in an essay contest based on the book, "Change Your Mindset, Not Your Man" (note: there were no first or second prizes). She regularly contributes to a parenting blog at www.EmpoweringParents.Com.
