Direct decendant of English 1820 Settlers sent by Britain to colonise South Africa. Father served in the Western Desert during WW2 as an officer in the SA Defense Force. Grew up in Swaziland and Natal. Joined the Rhodesian Police (BSAP) at age of 18. Left to make a career of farming. Served for 12 years in the Rhodesian Bush War before returning to Swaziland and South Africa towards the end of the war. Helped to develop large sugar estate and after 10 years moved to Natal South Coast and farmed bananas and bred crocodiles.
Moved back to Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) after selling farm in South Africa and had a farm north of Harare. In 2002 was forced, with his wife, to leave farm under threat of death by farm invaders backed by Mugabe and his land reform programme.
His life was inspired by the love of the the land, the outdoors and Africa.
Now resides in the UK.
