I started my first career job with a major Canadian bank and it was in that corporate world that awareness of personal power (and how easy it is to give that away) began to set in.
At 22 years old I applied to University as a mature student (meaning my high school courses and grades were not enough to get me in) and six years later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction), and a Bachelor of Social Work (Dean's Honour roll).
Shortly before starting my second year of University I met my husband and while obtaining my second degree gave birth to our first child. That sparked an interest in Parent Education and started me on an intense personal journey of self-awareness, communication skill development and understanding relationships.
Since graduation in 1995, I've owned two businesses, worked at a women's shelter, enjoyed nine years at a school division as their Prevention Social Worker and created/delivered many personal development programs. I've been trained (and certified) in numerous programs including Triple P - Positive Parenting, Positive Behaviour Instructional Support (Coach), Writing for Children at Institute of Children's Literature and many others.
Currently I am the owner and Chief Empowerment Officer for Empowering NRG, an author, a speaker, workshop leader, mother, wife and dedicated dog owner.
