Have you ever noticed how it's typically the 'bumps' along the road that add flavour and excitement to our journey? I've lost my home to flood waters, fallen off a ski lift, messed up my face in a mini-bike accident and came very close to being fired from my first major career job.
At the time, these experiences hurt – literally and/or emotionally – yet given the choice I would live them all again. Not because I like pain, but because these situations helped define me as a person. They helped me detach from things I couldn't control, focus my energy on what was really important in my world and trust that I truly can survive whatever life throws my way.
My books strongly reflect this way of thinking and go beyond living on autopilot into living on purpose. My goal as a writer is to help people wake up to all the wonderful opportunities life can provide and detach from the things they are doing to make life so much harder.
I believe we bring out the best in people by focusing on what they are already doing right and then encouraging them to take another step forward. As the Chief Empowerment Guide for my company, Empowering NRG, I know I am a work in progress and I wouldn't want it any other way.
