In 1946, at the age of fourteen, 'Mac' Maqbool Qurashi reads a newspaper article on immigration to the United States and immediately makes it his life long dream. Shortly thereafter, sectarian violence following the partition of India claims the life of his father and drives Maqbool and the rest of his family to Pakistan. His pursuit of his dreams takes him to England and Germany and finally he, his wife and an infant son find their way to America as domestics in the emplyment of a wealthy lady.
Mac was born in Jammu, in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He received a diploma in textile engineering in England and a BS in the engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphis. In 1974 he founded AM Cable TV Industries with a $1200 tax refund. It quickly developed into the premier contractor implementing Cable TV franchises nationwide leading to listing on the NASDAQ.
