It was to be for a few of her close friends, but the book became an immediate best-seller. Though the book was published in 1971, Kathi's story still resonates with teenagers and Margaret continues to receive letters from around the world.

She received an award of excellence from "Campus Life" Magazine for this book and after its publication traveled throughout the country telling the story of her second daughter Kathi. Margaret subsequently published ten additional books.
