Joel Young is an aspiring poet, author, drummer and percussionist, lyricist and unofficial apprentice to classic Poet John Donne.


Background Information

I was born in Athens Greece when my father was stationed there. My dad was as inspiration as well as various professors and teachers. Some of my influences include baseball, poetry and history figures. John Donne, Hank Aaron, and pacifist/WWI hero Alvin York.

Accomplishments

I have been writing for over twenty years. I have been mentioned locally in a couple writing competitions Florida Community College of Jacksonville. I have also won numerous honorable mentions on the webbased Amazing Instant Novelist for Poetry and Short Stories.


I have recently won the EPPIE Award for my poetry collection American Lyricon: A Poet Sings of America. And was finalist in 2002 Eppie Awards in the Poetry category for To John Donne and Other Poetic Letters published by http://www.synergebooks.com/.
