As I was growing up, I was an avid reader. Unfortunately for me, I went from reading the "First Love" from Sillouette to the big fat romance novels. I was unprepared for what was underneath those covers. There was stuff in there that drew me in, in a not so good way. Needless to say, I became addicted. Lies were being told to my heart about relationships, romance, and love and I became very confused.
I made a decision in my twenties to stop reading those books and find some that were more wholesome to my spirit. I started reading Christian authors such as Teri Blackstock, Frank Perretti, Beverly Lehaye, Jan Karon, etc. I wish there had been books like that written for me, about the things I was going through.
As a youth director, I was always teaching with my stories. My kids told me I needed to start writing them down. So, when one of my girl's got pregnant, I took my frustrations out on paper. Five years later, Forever Family was born. It only took me a year to write the second one, Never Alone. Stand Strong was released in March 2011. Number four and five are already pounding on my head to get out, but like me, they must learn patience.
I enjoy getting to talk with students about my books. I love their excitement over the characters and how they take the characters into their hearts as well. My stories are not just for teens, so I hope you enjoy them too.
