I was motivated to write because of my wife's encouragement, as she thought that I had a life story worth telling. I was born into a typical middle class home on the outskirts of Kingston Jamaica. Jamaica was still under British Colonial rule, a very happy and safe place for a young boy to grow up in the loving home of my grandmother's. However because of my family being of mixed racial background ceatain intolerance and un-acceptance did exist, because of skin color. Even though I was well cared for by my three aunts after my grandmother died, my life would never be like other clildren who had a mother and father around. All because of the un-acceptance of my black skined Panamanian father, who my mother had her first love with. As a new author I deal directly with these racial problems that I would encounter along the road of life, weather it was in my family or in the work place. I was successfull in my life time to gain an understanding of human behaviour of all kinds, and this gave me the ability to overcome my adversarys with a strong will to survive in my new country of choice, Canada. Writing is a part of my family heritage through my grandfather ; Hebert Theodore Thomas-1856 to 1930, he wrote two books in his lifetime: "Untrodden Jamaica"-1890 and The story of a West Indian Policeman-1927. I have done much research on his work, as a Jamaican Police Inspector. Author. Naturalist and Lecturer. The sad thing is that he has been removed from Jamaica's history, and I think that it is because he was a born 3 rd generation white Jamaican who may have been miss identified as a Englishman, after Jamaica's independance in 1962. My book with deals with these matters, to show the injustice that raceism can cause to people.
